Has anyone sent a letter for trial by written declaration (traffic cases)?

I got speeding ticket on July 30th 75 in 65. I believe that the courtesy notice should have mailed after 3 weeks i got cited.
but the problem i have is that I moved to San Diego from the Bay Area about 10 days ago so i must have missed it. so i need to call to court to make sure the bail amount which needs to be sent with the written not guilty plea. on the back of the citation, it is said "send a certified or resistered letter postmarked not later than five days prior to the appearance date....blah blah blah..." I am not really understanding what that means by "certified or resistered letter". Should I send something like police- or court-authorized envelop or any special seals while mailing not guilty plea?

I want to hear some real story about how it works if anyone has pleaded not guilty with the written not guilty plea, and see if we really could go thru with the written things?

help, please~~~~~~

Man what kind of Mickey Mouse court system lets you write an excuse on paper and actually lets you off? Sorry.. just doesn't work that way on the east coast... I wish I could get out of a ticket just by writing my excuse on paper.

I just did it and won my case. It works because the officer does not get paid overtime for a written argument as opposed to showing up to court. Most police officers are lazy and hate writing reports!
It helps to extend the ticket by 60 days first.

Go to the post office they have certified and registered mail. It's like a tracking system them use, not 100% of how it works, but they give you a green receipt with a tracking # for certified and a blue receipt with a trck. # for registered, it's a few $$$ extra.

www.ticketassasin.com

I tried it. I lost. 0/1 probably cause i really had no excuse for that stop sign. All i wrote on the paper was "I'm not guilty" and hoped that the cop didn't respond.

I got a ticket in California a few weeks back, missed the court date, called them the same day and moved it....spoke with the judge and Ihe stated that I can write a letter and fight the case with letters only? I was like WTF..? The West coast is different than the east coast, u eithor show up or jail time! But again I do live 3000 miles away from where I got my ticket as well and they were rather nice to me on the phone. Not to mention the cop that cited me said that he did not clock me but wrote me a ticket for 105 in a 65, bullshit I think but will fight it, I'll keep u guys posted on what happed next month when I write my statment
