Default Has My Cat Gone Crazy?

My cat attacked me 3 times in 2 days! Generally, my cat will show off for anyone if it means she'll be given some lovin' so this is very out of character for her.

Both nights it was unprovoked & she not only clawed my arm, but also bit my wrist. The thing is, immediately after she attacked me she was still quite affectionate while still clearly 'on guard.' It was like she was possessed or something. Nothing else about her has changed - all of her daily habits are the same. (In the past when she's been sick, she's neglected her grooming. No sign of anything like that.)

This happened for the first time a couple of years ago. She attacked me while I sat at the computer and almost immediately afterward lunged at me with my back turned to her. She also attacked my legs while I walked through the kitchen a few months back, drawing blood. She's never done anything remotely similar to anyone else.
Most sites I've checked suggest to call a vet (which I will obviously do), but I'm just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences with their pets?

if a pet attacks an owner and draws blood it's time to roll up some newspaper and smack the shit outta that cat.

they need to strongly associate attacking you with being swat-the-f*ck around with a tube of rolled-up newspaper.

sorry to all you animal-lover "let's talk to our pets" people-- but viciously attacking the hand that feeds... especially if unprovoked... that's a NO-NO.

rolled up newspaper works great.

Does your cat live in the house all the time? Cause if she goes outside too, she might have rabies.

Or maybe she's just in great pain. Sometimes animals react viscious if they are in pain. You should definately go to the vet and have her completely checked through.

Did you know that dogs chew up shoes when they feel lonely? They just want more attention. Maybe that's what your cat needs too.

How old is your cat? Kidney failure is pretty common in older cats. I'd go to the vet asap if there's any concern.

Hmm maybe there is "something" else in your house.......Animals can usually see things humans can't. 6th sense sort of thing. Be careful when you turn out the light tonight......

Sometimes they just do that. I have a 16-year-old that used to do that every once in a while. When he did not get what he wanted he would stage a battle plan and go for the ankles. He was just exerting his power. I would have your little one checked out just in case something else is going on.

if it was a dog problem.. smacking the **** out of it will tame it and it will learn u r da master... but cats hold grudges.. no matter how much **** u beat out of them.. they will always try to get back at u.. so i don't kno.. maybe try to use psychological way to punish her.. like lock her in a cage or a room.. and feed just a little bit.. so she will be glad to see u when u feed her or something...

Thanks for the input everyone. She's an indoor cat and is now about 9 years old. I'm sure she was abused before I brought her home and she's very anxious, so I'm not keen on being aggressive in return.
I'm trying to see if a vet will come out to see her, since even leaving the house is quite traumatizing for her. :sigh:
