Default Have Cable Modem or DSL at Home?

if so, are you afraid of being hacked and your important data accessed?

I'm personally not worried, but have to wonder about the number of people out there with high speed access who are already hacked, and/or have their PCs commandeered by 'script-kiddies' or worse. The first day I got my cable modem, before I installed a router, ZoneAlarm must have detected at least 30 different probes of my ports!

I use a router to isolate my LAN from the internet.

Hmmm maybe there should have been a few other questions on the poll like:
Yup I have a firewall and an IDS, what do I have to be worried about?
Wazza firewall?

Firewall is an ambiguous term these days, if you think you are safe, think again!

The poll options definitely should have been clearer - sorry, I was up late.

What I should have asked really is that if you have broadband, how confident are you that your personal data (on your PC) is secure?

I used to think that since I ran an OpenBSD firewall with OpenSSH enabled with port re-direction to an internal Apache web server that I was safe..haha...not anymore...

Nobody is safe, no one is immune..how do we ever feel confident?
