This goes for anyone:

As long as you are up front about your sponsorsip (which greg has been), I will enjoy your posts with a grain of salt due to and obvious bias.

Greg,

no offense at all, and I'm glad to see discussions of mods and products here.

I do think that a potentially thorny issue has been brought up, however.

In the olden days of the Internet, people posting to newsgroups were usually careful to put a disclaimer on any message they wrote about a product if they had any kind of relationship with the manufacturer or vendor of that product. For example "I think xxx is a great widget (disclaimer: I get free xxx widgets because they sponsor me)." or "(disclaimer: I'm just a satisfied customer of xxx widgets)."

That way it's clear to the reader if there is any possibility of conflict of interest. Notice that I said "possibility"; I'm not suggesting that you or anyone else here has done anything wrong, but even the appearance of a conflict can cause problems.

Maybe you and others who have sponsorship or other relationships with manufacturers or vendors should consider using a disclaimer when discussing those or competing products.

What do you think?

Ted

Tedster, that is precisely why I put it in my signature that MG Racing is sponsoring my car. I would hope that would be enough and I can't imagine that anyone (especially after the last couple of days, thanks to Bieg, actually) DOESN'T know that...(you must love that irony, I know I do!)

Makes me do this ----->

But you're correct in what you say, IMO, and making sure that it is known is a responsibility on my part...which explains the language in the signature.

Good call...

Greg, your posts are always helpful and add another facet to the discussion at hand.

I think MOST of us can ween out the advertising. I really don't care personally, I like to have exposure to all s2k products, if you are starting conversations because you like the car and/or it's products, well, DUH, isn't that why people come here?

I don't think people are instantly brainwashed when ONE person brings up his sponsors products. I figure if you are sponsoring the products, you probably like them in and of itself.

Keep the posts coming greg.

You're kidding right????
If you're lucky enough to have someone help you with your mods, sponsorships etc. Good for you!
Are some of us jealus, maybe, I am. but I don't take it personally. Jeesh, what's this world coming to?
Enjoy your car, have fun, and don't sweat the little things.

Think about it this way. If i was Jacques Villeneuve and I posted on this board. Would my posts be offensive because Honda pays for almost everything, OR....Would you value my opinions and knowledge.

Don't be so politically correct!!

Greg-

The fact that you have a sponsored car is clear to me through your signature. I have to agree with Silver S2K in that as long as a poster is up front about his sponsorship (as you are) I have absolutely no problem.

I enjoy reading your posts and like the insight from you and others with modded cars.

Keep it up, keep it real, and for God's sake... enjoy the car.
