heat or ice?
my opinion.. since it's not swelling, probably not hurt too bad..
but you should say exactly what you did to it.. or did to cause the pain..
I've had knee surgeries.. I've had knee pain..
probably just a bruise...

i was in a hurry to get into my car and i guess i twisted my right knee wrong while getting into the driver seat. the knee feels fine for the most part. i have no trouble walking or bending the knee. the problem is when i try to climb stairs or when i'm squatting and trying to get up, there is a sharp pain above my knees when i contract my right quadraceps to lift myself. there is no sign of brusing. i'm guessing the injury is to one of the tendon for the quadraceps or one of the ligaments in the top part of the knee.
if it were me, and the pain didn't seem to let up in a few days, I would think about getting it looked at by a specialist..
at any rate, I would definately avoid doing things that make it hurt.. give it a chance to heal some.. ice and heat aren't going to fix any damage..
I continued to play football on a hurting knee once, bad mistake..
if you feel it's serious, i wouldn't delay in seeing a dr. .. could save you larger amounts of pain and surgery in the future..
good luck..
