BISMARCK, N.D. - Police get calls about drunken drivers all the time, but rarely do they come from the alleged offender.
A 17-year-old girl in Bismarck called 911 on New Year's Eve "to report herself driving under the influence," police Lt. Randy Ziegler said. "I've never heard of such a thing happening, and neither has anyone here."
The girl told authorities her location shortly before midnight Wednesday and officers found her in a parked car near downtown, Ziegler said. She failed a sobriety test and was arrested for failing to have control of her vehicle while intoxicated.

If she takes that to court, she'll probably win. The police did not observe her driving and her keys were in her purse. Her statements might not be admissable since she's a minor and didn't have her parents with her at the time. Doubt could be raised about who made the phone call, as well. They might be able to get her on some sort of public intoxication or being under aged and drunk. If she were put on the stand, she could "take the fifth" about anything she said to the police.
haha a buddy of mine got a DWI last week because he decided to sleep it off...while the car was running. The attendants at the gas station he was parked at called the cops because he was revving the engine in his sleep.

Not in Louisiana. You can be arrested for having the keys on you. If I decide to sleep in my car (in the bar parking lot) to let regain my sobriety, I can still be arrested/ticketed.
Of course, chances are I wouldn't be, because most cops I've encountered are NOT assholes.
EDIT:
Suit on.
