My comment assumes that Exxon and Mobil will sell no (or little) gas at retail, only wholesale it to BP. Yours assumes that Exxon and Mobil will drop their prices a bit and sell at retail. Each conclusion follows from the corresponding assumption. Which assumption would actually correspond to reality is uncertain.

In any case, the oil companies as a group won't suffer; at best, the income will be redistributed.

this is glasscock, but don't forget the other stations that buy exxon/mobil oil and OEM it. there are dozens, as you'll find out if you do your research properly. Something else, they're not even the largest importer of oil from the middle east. I forget the name, I did the research a couple years ago when that email started going around, but what I found is that for this to really work almost every gas station you see would have to be passed over. Fairly impractical if you want to keep vtecing.

hell if you do a search on here you might even be able to find some quotes i posted.

u can find the info on oil imports/exports from the dept of energy website...it's heavily buried though.
