Default Help A College Student With A School Project!

Hello Everyone,

While the s2ki community has been extremely great to me over the past 9 months of my ownership and before then, I was wondering if it could be of some assistance with a class project.

I would go into to greater detail about myself for you but I believe my project will help you do just that. My assignment was to create an e-portfolio that gives a general idea of who I am, my professional work experience, my academic career, resume, interests and hobbies etc. The main purpose of this assignment however is to generate page views to be analyzed using Google Analytics. For those of you would don't know about this software, it is simply a program that helps me track information in regards to page views and how long someone may have viewed my page etc. I would really love a diverse viewership as I feel it would make for a great write-up in the follow-up on the assignment.

Simply put, please take a look at my website, I would really appreciate your time and if you have any questions or comments regarding anything you could simply respond to this thread and I would be more then willing to answer any of your questions!

Thanks in advance!

Tyler

Hello again everyone, I just wanted to provide you with some details that I am discovered based off this posting and relay some of the interesting and exciting things I have found to you!

California - 4
Ontario Canada - 3
Arizona -2
Alabama, DC, Florida, Missouri, and Minnesota - 1

Today I had 30 visits to my website, with a 40.48% Bounce Rate (1 view and leaving page).
The three visitors from Ontario, spent an average of 4:46 on my website with 9.33 page views per visit.

Another exciting discovery was that an employee of Monsanto, a large agricultural company located outside of St. Louis Missouri, took 2 minutes and 38 seconds out of there day to look at 7 pages of my profile!

Much like an employee of Monsanto, another employee from Honeywell International Inc. located in California viewed 4 pages on my website and took 1 minute and 43 seconds out of their day to look into my website!

I wanted to send many thanks again to those of you from s2ki who took the time out of your day to research my site. I hope to make more improvements to my website to continue to lower my bounce rate while reaching many more prospective individuals. I hope you have found this information interesting and I will continue to update this page if the traffic on my website continues.

Thanks again for everything!

Best,
Tyler

I technically am not given the employment information. I was able to recognize the employees of companies such as Honeywell based off the information of their internet network. With the network name usually under the company name, I'm then able to analyze the location based data to determine the location and company in which someone viewed my profile.

As of today, of the 110 views on the s2ki website, 22 views were calculated on my website. Two new viewers from British Columbia viewed my profile, and one of those individuals viewed 10 pages for five minutes and fifteen seconds. There were again multiple companies that had on of their employees using the company network to view my website.

In 4 days, my website had generated 68 visits, with a peak of 30 visits on Friday March 23rd. Thanks again for the continued support, it's really great knowing that corporations are viewing my website, and ultimately, if by some dumb luck on of those felt I had the capability to fulfill an internship opportunity within that said company, I would surely welcome any opportunities. Thanks again and look forward to continuing my reports and informing you of anymore new information that I gather.

Best,
Tyler

Food for thought: You may want to have your resume text on your page above/below the download links.

Out of curiosity what visitor info does it give you? Timestamps? IP's? I'd like to test something tomorrow when I'm at home with my VPN/TOR setup, just so I can see what google sees.

The information is plentiful. You can track location, demographics, internet networks, bounce rates, page views, and I believe IP addresses are available but I have been unable to locate that information. Also, the information is not timestamped and the Analytics program usually only updates your viewership information once daily.

Setting up the Google Analytics software was simple, although I created my website using Word Press and it made for a very simplistic way of setting up all the information. The only thing you need to use the software is a gmail account.

http://google.com/analytics/ This is where you can find out all about Google Analytics and the requirements you may need to attach it to some of your information. I wouldn't say that the program is perfect but at the same time my relative inexperience with software and working with such programs I am also far from an expert on this subject, although hopefully in 2 years I will be

Any other questions feel free to comment or PM me. Thanks for checking everything out!
