Let me start out by saying that I am a bit of a cheap miser, what with S2000 payments and all. I'm sure that you will understand.

Anyhow, yesterday, I threw it a CD-R into my CD drive, which I have been working on for the last year as a "photo album" Lo and behold...nothing. All 150 images I had stored on there disappeared. While there is no monetary value to our family pics, there is a lot of sentimental value. How do I get them back? I recognize that data recovery software works well (I tried the evaluation copy from arrowkey), however, I'm not keen on spending $70-$100 on software just to recover some pictures.

Your thoughts? Any help would be appreciated.

I used File Scavenger Pro that I downloaded somewhere, it requires payment to activate it but it wasn't 70-100. More like 20-30. Worked fine for me.
