Most desktops don't come with infrared ports, as far as I'm aware. But if your computer happens to have one, it would most likely be covered by a flat dark (black/dark red) translucent (almost opaque) plastic window (very much like what you'd see on the front end of most TV remotes).

Assuming your computer doesn't come with an infrared port, you'd have to use either Bluetooth (as you mentioned), or buy an adapter cable from Sony Ericsson.

Hope this helps.

I take it your phone doesn't come with the necessary cables (most don't but I figured I'd ask anyway)?

As for Bluetooth vs Infrared. Bluetooth is newer, and in many ways better than infrared. It uses radio waves to communicate, so it'll work as long as your phone is within a certain distance from your computer (something like two meters), whereas with infrared, the phone's infrared port has to be within a few inches of the computers infrared port, and they have to be pointing at each other. I'm guessing Bluetooth is faster than Infrared too.

Having said that, I doubt your computer has Bluetooth support built-in, because Bluetooth is so new. To take advantage of your phone's Bluetooth capabilities, you'll have to buy a Bluetooth adapter for your computer (yup spend more money ), and quite frankly, I'm not sure if it's worth the money.
