Default Help me figure this robbery out

Neighbors place was broken into in broad daylight this afternoon.

The place is FULL of stuff I would want, high end audio crap, tons of vynl and cd's, expensive cameras ... etc. Shit you can easily sell at a pawn shop.

So the only thing missing was her Norweigan passport and work visa. That's it -- they took them out of the wallet they were in -- leaving an American passport, social security card, credit cars, checks ... even cash.

WTF?

I would think that the point was to take the passport and visa without being noticed. Perhaps they didn't want your neighbor to suspect it was stollen and instead was lost. If it was an obvious break in......then it's someone who definately knows the value of the paperwork to them....vice the value of the material items to us....

It's possible that it was someone that they showed the visa/passport to. They located the address and stole it for whatever reason.

I agree. It sounds like someone went after exactly what they wanted. That smell like someone was aware of what was there.

Maybe there's a blonde haired blue eyed terrorist out there with a Norweigen passport. But don't worry about it... The first time someone makes her eat lutefisk...she'll give herself away.

Hmmm, interesting. I'm thinking that maybe someone wants/needs to get out of the country in a hurry. Maybe some sort of identity theft? It could be some terrorist deal, but it doesn't seem too likely. Just tossing some ideas out there.

there is a show on TLC that talks about robbing your house or something. Two of the stars on the show are former cons making examples out of ordinary people about how they secure their home and belongings. I remember them mentioning that passports are very valuable and is worth several thousand dollars on the black market.

Maybe they needed a false identity, but figured they mght notice the Ami passport missing sooner, and then they might get busted trying to use it. Regardless, it's a pretty weird theft. I'd suppose it was someone they knew, but maybe not.
