Help me find the guy who stole my Volks
I would bet the wheels "owner" is the guy who stole them. If he does not have an answer to where he got them "UM....I bought them from some random guy in a parking lot! I don't know him." he is your guy.
Anyone driving a 25-year old faded Civic wagon with a rugrat won't be spending money on Volks anytime soon, stolen or otherwise. If I had to put money on it I'd say that's the thief.
Then again, we all know how screwed up some people's financial priorities area...

yeah this is one of those weird situations where you're thinking it's too stupid to be true; and maybe so. But whatever you do, don't stop hunting them down.
And "Vanishing point" is right. If you have a License Plate, DMV will give you registered address and stuff. "gone in 60 seconds" told me so.

Even if someone did sell them to him and he's not the thief, if you can prove they're stolen and belong to you, the wheels go back to you, point blank (at least here in CA).
There was a case in the news a while back about selling stolen merchandise. It is a part of the buyer's responsibility to make sure that the item they're buying isn't stolen by asking for receipts, etc.

I hate thieves.
My dad parked our snowmobile trailer behind his workshop, behind 2 gates and the building itselt, so the person must have known what was back there(meaning he worked there or knew someone who works there) and we ended up finding the dumb bitch. Apparently he bought the trailer, but he didn't even argue. It was all painted black but still had the diamond plate at the bottom so we knew it was ours. No sign of the 3 snowmobiles, snowblower and sledding equipement, though. Apparently his dad lives across the street from the shop. Oh... and the tires on his truck match the tire marks on the ground. He had to break through over 8 damn locks just to get inside this thing.
