Just make sure you warm up and stretch before your workouts as well. At 5'7, a buck 20 is waif thin, so like most have said, eat a lot of the good stuff and hit the weights.

Na **** stretching before you lift. You should never stretch a cold muscle. Muscles and connective tissue should only be fully stretched after being warmed up fully.

This would be the proper way to tackle the situation:
Begin with a warmup.. a light jog, or specific lifts with low, gradually increasing weight, etc. Once the muscles are partially warm, you can do a light stretch, but nothing long and static. You can do light stretching throughout a workout to reduce muscle tightness. Once your workout is complete, you can finish with a full stretch.

Sorry I didn't clarify, but you're right. I always do 5 minutes of light treadmill/recumbent bike before stretching.

im serious but not serious. in the sense that this is just another thing im adding to my life and probably wont venture so far as protien shakes or changing my diet too much.

i dont drink soda cept on occasion (max maybe 1 time for dinner or something)

i will eat out on occasion as well (with friends and what not)

my goal is just build a little mass to even out body proportions and then tone so it doesnt look like just fat.

thanks for the help so far guys

dude we're in pretty much the exact same boat.
I'm 19
5'10" about 130.
I've just started going to the gym again and haven't thought of any solid routine yet. just kinda workout whatever, go home, and occasionaly wake up next morning unable to move. lol wash, rinse, repeat.
after you work out spend about 10 minutes in the sweat room(sauna) it will make all the difference the next day.

trial and error in that dept man...some flavors of the same product will you give the runs and some won't..hard to say how YOUR body will react to a particular product...
