Go to a bike store and ask them for a box, then break your bike down (take the wheels off), wrap everything to prevent scratching, and put it all in the box.

No, I've never done this before....

I was counting on Mailboxes etc to have a box. Bike store is a good idea. And of course I don't have a wrench with me to take the pedals off.

i have done that more than a couple of times.
and yes, that's pretty much right.
it really depends on what size is your bike to determine how many parts you have to take it out.
sometimes, you can just take off the front wheel, turn the fork all the way around, losen the stem and handle bar, take off the pedal and seatpost ... sometimes you have to pick apart more ...

here are some pix, hope this help.

oh
and pedal wrench ...

they are 15mm wrench with long handle.

it's a lot easier to take off the pedals with the proper tool, trust me, i've tried. some pedals are almost impossible to take off with just normal 15mm wrench!

anyway, here is an idea, if you have a normal 15mm wrench at home with just short handle and you want to have a longer handle for more leverage, just look for a steel tube of some kind to put over the wrench handle and it will give you heck a lot more leverage!

and yes, i've tried that too ...

have fun~! and watch out for the crank tooth when taking pedal off the drive side ... you don't have to have crank tooth mark on your hand! trust me! i don't have that ... hehe, thank God! but i got that on my leg~

p.s RHS pedal goes off clockwise and LHS pedal goes off counter-clockwise
