Default HELP with Palm PILOT!!!

Believe it or not, my palm pilot FROZE..you know, just like a PC. Anyway, I have a Palm Vx

I was playing solitaire on it (by smallWare) and then all of the sudden, the whole thing just froze. I can't even turn it off. its just stuck on the game screen. So, I just let it run out of batteries, then naturally it shut off. But when I put it back in the cradle and turned it back on, it was still stuck on the game screen. And again, I can't shut it off. Does anyone know what the heck happened to it? Or how I can fix it?

thanks.

oh, I got impatient and just hit the "reset" button in the little hole on the back of the unit and of course, it reset and now its back to normal. but the funny thing is, all my dad and settings and programs and everything is still in there. I thought hitting reset would erase all my data (you know, phone no.'s apponitments, etc.)...

Don't know about the Palm but on my Sony Clie you can do a "soft" reset by briefly hitting the reset button. That preserves you data. A "hard" reset will clear all your data and restore it back to the original state.

Redleader... How are you?
Your palm can be "soft" reset by poking a paperclip or something in the little hole in the back. This will unfreeze it ... sometimes.

SOmetimes it will not 'soft' reset and you will have to hard reset. Do this by holding the on/off button while doing the poking thing. Trya few times if necessary letting the on/off button go at different times in the process.

You'll know its a "hard"reset if you see it come back with the palm logo and you have lost all of you data. (don't panic yet) OR sometimes you will be given a choice to lose data or save... pick save. If that doen't unfreeze you (and I don't see why it shouldn't) do again and pick lose.

You can re synch after losing data and restore to your last synch status. If you don't sync you're hosed... you should synch.

I've hard resetted dozens of times... erasing the memory is not a big deal unless you haven't sync'd lately.

Aside from hitting the reset button, I've had the situation where my Palm was totally stuck. Even reset wouldn't help because it would go into a funky state right after the reset.... turns out that the power button/backlight button got jammed and was always active. I fiddled with the button and got it back to normal, and I could use my palm without a problem again.
