My name is Daniel Robinson. I've a fairly member on these boards, as I'm new to the s2000 community. I was a huge board member for Northamericanmotoring (coming from a turbo'd MINI). I'm a pre-med student at Indiana University. After spending a summer working through the Well's Center and Riley Children's Hospital, I have decided to be a part of Indiana University Dance Marathon. In short, it's a volunteer event that is used to raise money to help Riley patients pay for medical treatment. The dance marathon lasts for 36 hours, during which we can not sleep, sit down, or rest. We spend most of the daytime hours with Riley kids, playing games and getting to know them. Last year, the event raised nearly $2 million, adding to the $12 million that it has raised over the last 10 years.
Parker (my roommate) and I both volunteering this year and our goal is to raise at least $500 apiece. If we reach this goal, our fundraising alone can pay for one child's chemotherapy for a month.

drobinson1692, if what you are saying is true then I wish you the best of luck for the event aswell as for the kids.

The problem is that anyone could make a legit looking donation site for a good cause.

I admire what you are doing (again, if this is a legit charity) but not everyone will beleve it. Especailly from someone with only 46 posts..

 

it is not a scam. Did you guys click the link? It's helpmakemiracles.org. It's a website set up for fundraising and donations are taken directly from the collection and given to IUDM (Indiana University Dance Marathon, iudm.org) There's ton of info about IUDM around and the website is safe. I know I'm new to the s2k forums, but I can link in my Mini forums name (same user) with 400+ posts.

Strange but true. Even in the internet age, face-to-face interaction does go a long way. Given that you (the OP) are new, and given that you're not looking for a lot of money, I would really implore you to go to a local meet (make the drive to Indy from Bloomington, if you needed), and get some face time with your regional members.

It shouldn't be. Anyone whose donated money to something before, can tell that's a legit site. Unfortunately all my toss away charity money has been donated to impeaching the president. Best of luck! I hope you have adderall, and lots of redbull to play with kids for 36 hours.

 

thanks for the support man. I thought this would be a good avenue to advertise in. If i even made a $200 on car forums, I'd be happy. I'm most likely going to need to double whatever I receive.
