I still wouldn't choose to live elsewhere though. Just the weather alone makes up for all the other deficits, not to mention all the other perks. I can't find a decent restaurant in North Carolina where when I'm in Los Angeles I have a hard time choosing where to eat because there are so many good choices.
Even the terrain is diverse. You can go mountain biking/snowboarding (winter) in the morning and chill out at the beach in the afternoon. All the issues you guys mention are not everyday occurrences. They are few and far between.
