LOL, actually Strike....if you've read the threads over there, like the one that Raj had started, you will notice that the members dont have a problem with the Mods. We all think they are doing a great job. They have jobs to do and rules to enforce, we know that. Sometimes we need to vent a bit and maybe you guys get PM's, but we know that's your jobs.

I myself have made many Mod friends. I have rubbed a few the wrong way. Do I hold that against them? No. I am one of those that start over with a clean slate daily. I may hate someone one day but tomorrow is a new day and new begining.

Alot of these guys are gonna learn for themselves how hard it is to be both a mod and everyone's friend. You cant please all the people all the time.

Brant, your right. We dont all have to agree. But it would be nice to find a happy medium. That dont mean you have to break your rules, there's other ways. When we signed on to this site, we read the rules and agreed to follow them. Why should things be different now?

I'll be the first to disagree with a mod for responding inappropriately, but from the way I read your first few posts his response seemed entirely appropriate. Smartass? Probably...but not unduly rude or combative.

It's really your reaction to his comment that things in OT hadn't drastically changed in your absense that seems to have flared this whole conversation.

The easiest way to stop wasting your time in any thread is to stop posting. Take the fuel away from the fire and it will eventually die.

As for why I'm posting this...I'm killing time until I leave for the weekend and this seems like an entertaining way to do so.

What part are you posting in now Shift? I wouldn't really say slowed down though, just due to the fact that there are so many users who keep OT afloat on a regular basis.
I haven't noticed a huge decrease in traffic, but statistically, I think it may have been busier before..
That was the way that a more mature mod should have answered instead of a 19yr old. Later on in the thread even mindcore stated that he might have misinterpreted my question!!!!

I really cant stop posting here brant, its come to the point, where I feel that the majority of my legit arguement is bieng overlooked. I feel I have to inorder to ensure the validity of my arguement.

Throwing insults about maturity probably isn't going to accomplish your goal...unless your goal is, in fact, to keep this going.

You may not have LIKED his response, but it was entirely appropriate given the question and the context.

Granted, your question may have been misinterpreted, but Mindcore wasn't the only one that read it that way. There were at least 2 other people, which is a fairly significant percentage when you consider the number of people who have responded in this thread.

The long and the short of it is that you are just as guilty of a poorly worded post as Mindcore, so it doesn't seem there is any significant conflict.

So, is there anything beyond you not liking Mindcore's response that you feel is the majority of your argument that we are missing?

Maybe an outside opinon will help? (Ok, probably not, but what the h@ll.) I have absolutely no dog in this fight, so to speak, so I'm not on anyone's "side." I read the first 7 posts (as Shift mentioned) and the impression I got was that a group of folks are now posting on another site and he was wondering if their absence was missed and causing a slow down in the number of posts here in OT.

Like I said, I don't know any of the parties involved, but it would seem as if Shift asked a perfectly reasonable question, but likely had another agenda--which is not necessarily a bad thing. IMO he wanted someone to ask about the other site or ask where he was posting now. He should have anticipated an eventual misunderstanding, but maybe he didn't. Then there seems to have been a misunderstanding on all sides and the rest is long, repetitive history.

Perhaps everyone can agree to disagree and take their respective toys and go home and let this poor thread die in peace? It's a gorgeous day here in the Southeast, so is a better game plan than (Hopefully no one will me for jumping in uninvited. )

Actually, I'm not kidding you. I think that insulting someone is a rather ineffective way to get people to listen to your side of a situation.

I agree that many people in this thread could have handled it better, but insulting someone because they insulted you isn't the highest form of maturity in itself.

I wasn't implying that the majority misinterpreted you, just that the percentage was fairly significant. I happen to think that the majority either understood you or at least sided with you on this issue, and I can't fault that because this is all about interpretation.

I guess my problem is I don't see a war here...I see a group of people essentially talking about misinterpretation.

How should you have posted the question? My gut tells me you probably shouldn't have. What sort of reaction did you expect the question to garner? Just curious.

I think Brant's right, insulting people never gets us anywhere.

Before I met Brant, I thought "wow, what kinda ing moron is this guy" and then I met him and knew exactly.

I think its great that OT has possibly slowed down, Rick is performing a service by allowing the flow to be absorbed by his less restrictive site. Super. It'll free up bandwidth for more useful topics.

Yay
