I watched it and he was pretty funny, but a little racially offensive. 
He had to touch on every race. I think he should just be funny without those kinds of materials. It's like every comedy I watch these days involves racial topics. 
Oh btw, I'm also wondering how/where he obtained the name Russell Peters if his father is also Indian.

Going by his last name- Peters, he is probably South Indian. A significant majority of South Indians are christian and have christian last names. Other examples include John, Matthews, etc etc.
His first name is Canadianized since he grew up in Toronto.
