Occasionally when I turn on the engine and let it idle for a short period, I can hear a small hissing sound that is comparible to a BOV. I know stock S2k's are normally aspirated, but any passenger of mine and myself can usually hear this sound from my car. I was going to put this on the "under the hood " forum, but I don't think it poses any serious problem. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this situation.

I hope that you read this before opening the hood because you could be in danger! A friend of mine had the same symptoms and took a pic of what he found, here it is....

Seriously though I think its just your A/C make sure its turned off and see if it still does it

Wow, yeah im sure it's not a snake or some type of leathery creature. I rarely use my AC, and it is usually turned off. Yet, it still makes that sound. I do know it's coming from the engine.

I'm guessing that snake was in the hood, because it presented a warm, tightly-packed home for it. I'm really not sure, but I'm sure that the Discovery Channel knows why it was there.

I think it's just the cold start mechanism. If you listen, it turns off after a couple minutes. It does it every time you start the car.

It's your smog pump for better cold start emmissions. It's that fat tube that connects to the air intake tube.
