Default HMO Vs PPO

Its that time of the year again to choose which type of health insurance I want. I'm a pretty young and healthy guy, but in case of an accident, I'd like to get the best care possible. Also, I hate the idea of going through a primary care physician in case I need to see a specialist.

Any adice is appreciated.

I'm going to guess you're paying less monthly premium for HMO.

Care to guess why you pay less for HMO and which one is friendlier when you actually need health care?

If you want good care and the freedom to choose your doctor then pick ppo.

Go watch that Denzel movie... John Q

I work at an insurance co. so basically that movie has a REALLY good point. Aside from that... PPO is better, just more expensive. It has a higher cap on the costs they will cover, and it lets you go to certain professionals without getting a referral from your primary care dr. If youre in perfect health, and your family is too... then I would suggest an HMO... if the difference is like $45 a month, then SPRING for the PPO... it depends on what state you live in though... good luck
