It was sweet. About 80 degress out, sunny. crusing up PCH right by Pepperdine University and blasting by me going the other way was a 340R. Awesome. I wonder how much $$$ it took to smuggle that baby in the States?

Have looked at one when I was considering purchasing an Esprit.
It looks much, much better in the flesh than in photographs and shifts like you wouldn't believe.

Lotus USA imported several 340R's - no need to import. But, there are many of them out there that came in through "suspect" means.

W6Dan - The Elise variant transmission linkages are terrible compared to the S2000 gear change, IMHO.

I was lucky enough to catch a ride in one at ButtonWillow race track March of last year. I believe it was a Eibach owned car as the driver, (from Eibach) was testing some new coil overs they had made for the car.

All i can say is OMG. I believe the power is rated at under 120 horses but i KNOW it can pull well over 1g. With the suspension this car had and the R compound tires, I thought i was going to pass out. The grip was unreal.

I doubt there are more than a handful of cars that would be more fun to drive than this one
