Default Honda intake noise?

In ANY Honda engine, when you change the intake, you get that very distinctive ROAR. From your average Civic (even the shuttle from the 1980's) to the NSX.

What is the reason for this? I am thinking that the fact that Honda engines turn in the unconventional anti-clockwise way does not cause the intake noise to differ though. What about the new RSX, I wonder?

Thanks in advance.

Intake tract design?? OEM intakes can tend to be quite constricted (S2000 apart)... take off the airbox cover to really apreciate the induction roar you can get from a stock S2000
