honda salesman salaries?
My name is Mike and i am just wondering how much money a honda salesman makes a year on average. Reason being becuase i see an awful lot of accord/civic's on the road giving honda's popularity i would suggest that a honda salesman makes pretty good money.

I highly doubt they make 100K a year. At the my local Honda dealership, (Boch) the salesman was in his upper years and clearly was a salesman for a long time, yet his only car was a 89 accord. He did however tell me that they make $100 commision on every car they sell. So sell 1 car a day and you'll make $500 a week, thats $2,000 a month. And $24,000 a year on commision only. But I'm sure that the dealership outlines how much commision they pay and for what.
I work for a Honda Dealership - I'm the Internet Sales Manager - have been there for 14 years (but not as the Internet Manager for that long
).
I can't say that I disagree with anything anyone posted in this thread. Every situation is different. Some people are made for sales and others aren't. It is a rare few who are made for the job and they are the ones who pull down $100,000 incomes. I know 6 people, within my organization, that make this kind of money - 2 sell Toyotas, 3 sell BMW's, and 1 sells Porsches. There is nobody on the Honda salesfloor busting $100,000 - but some have come close

It varies a whole lot depending of course on the person, but also location and the particular store and how its run. I was in the business for 7 years total, quit at the beginning of this year. My worst (first) year was bad, <$30K, my best year (4 years ago during the boom, especially here in Silicon Valley) I made over $180K. It was pretty easy too since people had money to spend, but loooooong hours (90-100/wk, 52 wks/yr). I'm a horrible sales person but that year I was just an order taker because if you had the cars to sell, there were more than enough people to buy them. Experience, economy, and my position had a lot to do with the wide range.
Brand has a part in it too, but less so than the store itself. Times are harder now so the money is not there as much, but I've still got friends in the business at various manager levels that make over $100K/yr.

between $125-150K. Then again, the dealership moves about 450-500 cars per month and employs more than 40 full time sales personnel.
The salary depends on several factors. When I sold Toyota, the top salesperson earned
$80K but the dealership was small (different state) and didn't move nearly as much traffic.
Weather, size (IOW, inventory), aggressiveness, commission structure, etc. Many factors determine salary but if you can sell in a small dealership, moving to a metro
city dealership should only result in a higher salary.
$30K for anyone in auto sales is quite low, even for a small dealership, especially for
a Honda sales specialist. That type of salary would indicate less than 12 sales per month or two deliveries per week.
