I remember multiplying with this method a long time ago, its really simple all you do is draw lines based on the numbers being multiplied and count the intersection points, the hardest part to understand for me was which intersection points correspond to which two digits being multiplied. (Sorry i'm bad at explaining)
I thought the video was self explanatory!!

Long multiplication is a lot faster, but this is cool method to impress people with.

is that like a 2D abacus?

a normal chinese person uses a calculator. a poor chinese person uses an abacus. and a chinese person living in rural china uses this method?
