Default How to clean up transmission and engine oil?

Spilled some transmission and engine oil on the garage floor this past weekend. What's the best way to clean it up? Thanks a lot...

(What I've done so far is put some detergent on the oil when it was wet. That soaked up a lot of it, and then I swept away the detergent. But there's still a little left on the floor.)

You'll probably have to pressure wash it, depending on the garage floor surface. Paved? Tile? Painted?

Oops, my bad...the floor is unpainted cement.

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do to fully remove the stain, short of pressure washing it. You could try some Simple Green, Gojo, Fast Orange, etc. and let it sit, then scrub it hard with a coarse brush, but I can almost guarantee you it won't come out.

Personally, I wouldn't really mind the stain (I'd do it in the driveway in the first place), but if the Fun Police insists on taking up the stain, try some gasoline or kerosene.

ok dokie thanks dude, i'll give that shiznit a try.

normally i don't really care, either, but the stain is at a house that my friend is renting, so it needs to come out one way or another. at least we can probably get faded or something and make an event out of it.

No way! What I meant was, "maybe we can get together and study some calculus while we clean things up."

I dunno what you're talking about dude. I've never been involved in any sort of mess involving engine or transmission oil before. Being the master mechanic that I am, I just don't screw up like that.
