I want to stream my fish tank via a webcam, just want to keep an eye on my turtle to make sure he's not harrassing my gold fishes so any suggestions as to what software/hardware I should use? I have a DSL connection at home.

Some of the new cams come with software. Which allows you to view from camarads.com I think it is.

ahhh, fish cam? is that your story? lets see Rich, IF they were being harrassed, then, what would you do? call them up and say 'stop it!, or I'll stay, stop it again!'

there's something about Rich's motive to get a webcam, and that's about the only thing fishy here! ha!

p.s. - I did notice some low-end kits that were for surveilance of your home or whatever you wish - motion sensored. lovely, aint it? and cheap too! other than haven't played around with em too much. there are products on x10.com that have web updates as well. just look around.

Just go out and drop 50 or 60 bucks on a USB camera - I think Kodak makes one in that price range. I have one at work somewhere (in a drawer). I don't know if it comes with streaming software, but you can download Windows Media Encoder - WME - for free from Microsoft. I have some experience with WME, and can help you out, if you decide to go that route. It's a pretty slick little application and will do HTTP streaming.

Mingster,

Didn't Lips2000 set up a camera at work so that we could all see his S2K in the parking lot. You should probably ask him what he used.

One of the posts made it seem like you don't have a cam, is that the case?

yeah, no cam. so i'm basically looking for a cam that'll feed the data into my computer via (hopefully) wireless option, and broadcast it using some kind of streaming software.

My coworker has a cheap one he got for $10 - $20 at frys. It's either IBM or Intel. It gets the job done, but not wireless.
