Default How do you handle spousal abuse if it's not your spouse?

The guys and I were sitting around a very boring work today and somehow spousal abuse came up. We kept discussing, and eventually came to the following scenario:

We (electronics salespeople) frequently visit our customers homes. The vast majority of the time, these visits are uneventful. Sometimes we encounter "uncomfortable" situations (people having sex, discheveled, stoned, or find porno in their VCR/DVD player!). One of us walked into a couple's home where the couple looked like they were fighting pretty badly right before we entered. I just passed it off nonchalantly, and went on with my job. What if there had been violence present? What if he hit her in front of me? Would I need to do something right there? Call someone? It's just really hard for me to make a decision on this one. I so badly want to beat the out of that guy right there. On the other hand, I want to do the right thing for "society's" sake, and for her well-being. What would you (S2ki community) reccomend? Would be nice to know.

If you actually observe any sort of violence you should excuse yourself, leave the property and call the police.
