How do you make extra money on the side?

Tax return season is coming. At college you may be able to advertise $40-$50 per return (or something like that) and just use "turbo tax" to do the returns. Sure beats paying "H&R BLOCK" $120-$150

I was amazed how much it costs at those places.... even a basic 1 W2 and a 1099 from a bank = $100+++ for a tax return.

There have to be lots of people who don't know how to fill out their tax forms........
Thanks for the idea Scot!

That seems like a virtually no-risk business. I've been doing my own tax returns since I was 15, so I can do the easy ones. Plus my dad used to work for H&R Block, so he can help me out with the hard ones. I'll just put up some signs, and if I get some interest, then great, otherwise I lost like $10 making the signs.

my 2 cents, don't bother wasting all your youth time doing $hitty, minimum-wage side jobs that'll break your back and your ego.

if you're still in school, just study as hard as you can to get into the best college you can get accepted to, and study even harder to get into a professional school, whether it's a med/law/biz school.

would you rather work 80hr/wk making $7/hr, and have no real talent when you're 30 and max out at $50k/year, or become a professional making $300/hr??

I'm already half-way done with college at this point. I'm doing OK in school and have a career-related part-time job (30 hours per week). I'm also hoping to find some sort of an internship for next summer.

I'm studying computer science, and will probably not go for a masters, at least not right away. I'd rather get a job for a few years and actually get an MBA going to night school.

Not sure what kind of profession makes $300/hr that is related to IT. Sure, you can make $50/hr, but $300 is kind of hard to imagine.

My stepson does the e-bay thing. His biggest income stream is probably concert tickets. I'll have to ask him again. But to get it done he has to hustle about as much as a real job! He's tracking bargains and pre-orders like a granny clips coupons. He's standing in lines or doing the on-line lotteries.

Presumably he has a good sense of what sells and what doesn't. Otherwise he could get stuck with something. Heh, I don't think he'll have any problems with the PS3's he's selling...

$300/hour > $600k per year (I wasn't even a math major........)....

What the hell can anyone do to make that kind of corn on a regular basis?

Does it have anything to do with annoying people for carfax reports???

I have about 5 acres of land on a lake at my office, so I store boats during the winter. 250 boats at $350 each makes for a nice extra income in the winter...it costs me about $90 a boat to have the work done the rest is mine.
