As title...

I have some analog video clips I took on the track with my old SONY analog camcorder.

How do I transfer ananlog video into digital one so I can post up/load up to my website?

1. get a video card with VIVO (video in, video out), and a sound card. Then, you will need some vid captrue software.

2. Belkin makes a usb video capture device for about 100 bucks or something that works pretty well. Its called the Videobus II.

can your camcorder output to to a TV? if it can, you can capture it using these methods.

 

Usually, I just use an A-to-D converter.

question. i have a sony digital8 camcorder with firewire and a firewire connection my laptop. i have windows xp and that has movie maker software on it. is that all i need to make vids of my camcorder tapes? or do i need additional software?

 

probably all you need right there. Software is probably limited in what it can do though.

 

Another thing to mention:

If you have a digital camcorder, most of the newer models have analog->digital conversion built in. Read the manual.

Some Sonys for instance let you connect analog video to the camcorder which then spits the video out over the firewire connections when it is hooked up to a computer.

It'll do the job and save you a couple of hundred bucks if it has the capability. Many camcorders made on/after 2000-2001 have this capability.
