How does a man get 18 years back?
http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/12/25/dna.pris...e.ap/index.html
Looks like this guy was fasely convicted and served 18 years before he was released. The question is, how does one get those 18 years back? How do you clear up your name? Are these people entitled to any kind of compensation from the government?

thank God for DNA testing
if only we had discovered it sooner.
and yes, I feel he deserves compensation; enough to make the next eighteen years of his life very very comfortable.
the police and judge who were complicit in robbing him of what could have been some of the best years of his life need to be put under review and sactioned accordingly.

tough call, but that is sad. I would be on the first plane to costa Rica and sit on the beach till the sun for the reat of my life.....
They should compensate him on what he "could" have earned and saved had he been a free man, based on what, I'm not sure.

not sure how you compensate a guy for 18 years.... I think it should depend on his prior background.... did this guy have a clean record when all of this happened, or was he already at 2 strikes?
In my opinion...if anyone is wrongly convicted but had an extensive prior history, then the payout should be very minimal. The guy possibly would have been in jail anyway......
if they had a clean record, good grades in school and a real future, then it should be something pretty large.......

There was a guy up here named Guy Paul Morin, he spent 10 years in jail for the murder of a little girl, and becuase of DNA testing he was released. They paid him 1.3 million dollars and an apology.
The case was botched from the beginning, coverups etc.
I see him around every so often, at stores and such, and he is a broken man. Everyone talking about him, avoiding him like the plague. 1.3 mill would hardly be compensation for what he went thru if I was in his place.
