All depends on how much you like living where you are. If you hate the current spot, you may be tempted to move for $0.
Its all relative. |
Mm. Tough call. I don't have any family where I am so that's less of an issue for my wife and kids. Honestly, I'd probably need at least a 20% raise to make it work for me. Otherwise, I'm giving up seniority, a good working relationship, and pretty good job security for the unknown (higher paying though it may be).
Turned down a job last year at a nearly 100% raise. So, it's not like I'd move just for the raise, either. There's a lot more to it than salary and really, money is actually somewhat far down the list. Cost of living, proximity to friends/family, weather, and church family are much more important to me. |
It depends on where the move would take you, if you could really secure a job offer, and if you're willing to leave where you are.

A friend of mine just quit a job he loved to work for a bigger company and make a lot more. He lasted a week and less than a day before quitting that job. It took almost a month before he got another offer.
If you love your job and you're not hurting for money, then you should stay where you are. |
I have a good thing going, I could already make 50% more if I were to move somewhere less desirable. I haven't moved. It's hard though sometimes because my wife wouldn't move unless maybe the money doubled.

There's only so much you can do with more money.

It would have to be at least 100% more than I get now, im near the end of my mortgage and livin pretty comfy. To give it up and move would take a great offer I could not refuse.

I lived in Socal most of my life. I had an opportunity to move to Vegas for double the pay, and I did. It was the biggest mistake of my life. I had no REAL friends and hated the weather there. Money can not fix some things. I say stay where you are and look for a better paying job there. |
It would take 20% more in salary alone, and assuming that I went somewhere with a lower cost of living.
