Yeah its a common misconception that we get paid well. Only 10% of taxes go to military spending and the majority wishes to decrease it. When this whole war is over I'll get out and make 3 times that.

Yes I agree that they military doesn't make as much as they could on the outside, but when you are in the field or deployed you guys make a killing. You have no housing cost, no food costs, and all you do is rake in money and have no expenses. Its gotta be pretty cool to be deployed(though it sucks donkey balls out there) for 6 mo. and then come back home with 8K or more in the bank.

Oh and Im making less than 50% of what it sugests...sucks for me....

and its all tax free. been there done that and spent it all. oh well, the income seemed like a fortune at 18 years of age. good news is I get my 6 year raise in june. A whole whopping $30 every two weeks.
