just wanted to see what the rest of you thought

I been in line for a promotion at work for almost 4 months now, they keep saying there having trouble getting a head count approval on the other side, me and 4 others are supposed to be moving over but we were told its going to be a while still and one person found a posting on monster for this company on sat 24th for the same position they can't get approval for for us.

think they are just trying to keep us here because they still need us for our current positions which other people are leaving fast because it is being centralized and everyone is being laid off, and they are just dangling the carrot

or is this normal for a big company thats losing money to hire from outside go through a 3 month training process before you can touch an account,

this is just bothering me and seems funny and wanted to vent and get some opinions, also our small group are in the top 5% of the company and also guessing could be a cost factor (making to much)
thanks for listing

Two things come to mind (could be one or both)

1. You're getting worked over while replacements are found.
2. The company is trying to find a person comparable to the 5 in your group who'll work for less.

My guess is that "can't get approved" really means "can't get approved at your current salaries".

I agree. it sounds like they are trying to find someone for less money.

then again, many companies will look at both external and internal candidates for a position.
