I have given this a lot of thought and to me it seems very simple, risk-free and most of all, effective.

We drop a thermonuclear device into several of the major cities in each of the countries that we know, or suspect to be, harboring or have harbored terrorists. Now, here's the fun part

 

This is AFTER we kick the asses of those responsible right? As long as we hunt them down and kill them first...sounds like a decent plan to me.

Threatening them with bombs is exactly what they did to the people on the planes. Can you even imagine how scared they were? If we did what you're suggesting, we would be just as bad as they are. Still...

well, you would have to because for every bomb detonated, you instantly convert another 10,000 in the rest of the world who are dying to be suicide bombers

 

I as countless others have thought about what awaits use. The key to Lips' proposal is the strong symbol that will be given. The fear that will last forever. Not by terrorist but by those who host them. My conclusion is a small tactical nuclear devises will be used in Iraq to totally eliminate hardened targets which will be either command and control or manufacturing facilities. After all a nuclear explosion will be the only way to safely elliminate biological or chemical weapons or penetrate 200 ft of concrete of a nuclear hardened facility.

The problem is how do we send or create a symbol of our determination. Carpet bomb rural mountains in Afghanistan? A totally useless exercise . Carpet bomb empty tents in remote desert training camps?
We have one clear option - to put the fear of God in the countries who harbor terrorist. If these governments fear us they will cooperate or we will topple them politically.

Once the bomb has been dropped countries will be again be asked for there full cooperation. The fallout will be controlled by shooting the bomb as deeply into the target as possible. The wind will be blowing towards Afghanistan.

The key to success will be the cooperation of Saudi Arabia not Afghanistan. Although we will never bomb Saudi we will blockade their revenue source.
