I think most people don't know the fact that Russia is as big a melting pot (and with far longer history) as the US. The Tartar Russians are essentially Asians (looks more like Mongolians sometimes), and there are plenty of Russians who look very exotic (Arab/Caucasian mix, or southeastern Europeans).

China, BTW, has a large population of Caucasians who call themselves Chinese, speaks Mandarin, and live as any Chinese would - I bet most of you didn't know that, either.
