I always new the Olympics were a crock, but does this not prove it?

You can't get away from the media coverage of the Figure Skating pairs competition in which Canada got the Silver vs. the Ruskies.

One Judge has actually said that she was told to vote for Russia in exchange for a return vote.

Its utter bullshit.

As you may or may not know, Canada doesn't win many medals, we don't support our athletes, nearly to the extent of other nations, however when 2 athletes are clearly superior, they desreve to win.

Its a slap in the face to all the participants winners and losers alike..

The Olympics is the WWF in my eyes, and short of the Hockey Games, I will watch nothing else..

If you couldn't tell, I'm really disgusted with all this.

Watching American TV, it makes me glad that they are fully supporting Canada as well.

NBC is holding a poll. http://www.nbcolympics.com/x/f/frame.htm?u.../nbco_sport.htm
out of some 240,000 + votes, 96 % have picked Canada as the winner...

What a shame..

Very true, I can understand your feelings - many times it happened like this

but it gets worse -

how about Olympic boxing. I remember a few dodgy decisions in favour of NAmerican amateur boxing champions who need to get the Olympic Gold to launch their huge commerical professional careers as Olympic champion. Don't tell me no money changed hands between the US commerical ventures and the judges.

and how did Salt Lake actually get the Olympics??

Can you honestly tell me that no other city *cough* Nagano *cough* hasn't employed the same tactics as SLC. Every host city has bribed the officials. SLC was just stupid enough to get caught.
Let's not even talk about Beijing.

Let me rephrase that as it's not fair to Nagano. I don't mean the city bribed the officials but it has come to light that a few of the IOC officials owned real-estate in and around the Nagano sites. It's not the cities that are the ones to blame it is the corrupt officials.

That is precisely the point... the whole thing is rigged from start to finish.... just because others have done it doesn't make it right that SLC bribed people..... the whole of the IOC needs to be disbanded and a whole new decision making body set up if this is ever going to be cleaned up!
Agreed!

The Olympics are complete BS. First, its run by these international shake down artists.
The other problem arises when you have "sports" that are "judged." If there is a judge
is not a sport it is a pageant.
