Has anyone read the Stephen Colbert book yet? I think I might pick it up, looks pretty not bad. I'd like a review from a well-respected fellow S2Ki member before I read it. Er, um, are any of us still respected?

I read it. I liked it. I don't know if I'm well respected or anything though.

If you are at all timid or offended about certain things...politics, religion, illegal immigrants, etc. then you might want to pass. I wouldn't say he is mean or anything...he just openly talks about those subjects. If you go into it with an open mind, then it isn't going to matter.

I enjoyed it.

The book seems even more lighthearted than his show, and more comical (if that's possible). It's an interesting read because of all the footnotes and margin notes--these can have you going backwards and forwards quite a bit. When I read it, it seemed as though roughly 25% of the book was filler, but still entertaining. To give you an idea of the tone of the book, he claims to have dictated the entire tome in one weekend--by shouting into a tape recorder.

I've only read part of it in a bookstore while waiting for a friend [maybe an hour? she kinda forgot about me while shopping] and from what I read it looks like a great book. If you're into the show, there's no way you won't enjoy the book. You can practically hear his sarcastic voice saying some of the lines. On the other hand, this book definitely won't change anybody's hearts about Stephen Colbert either.
