Default I HATE advertising

Sure, every once in a while some ad will bring to my attention something I didn't know about before that I'd actually like.

But for the most part, 99.99% of the time, ads suck yeasty torn donkey bits. I wish there was a way to punish a company for sucky ads; some way to dissuade them from mentally assaulting me with their inanity. It really makes me angry sometimes, the junk they come up with.

This guy has the right idea:

Have I mentioned that the music on radios these days is crap? Besides hockey and a select few non-NASCAR programs on Speedvision, there's no reason to turn on the TV. (Our cable subscription will be put on hold once the hockey season is over.) Thank god for books and intelligent discourse with my friends.

What kind of world would it be without commercials? How would we know what to buy? What would the general public buy? Not everyone does research on the products they buy. Most rely on commercials. Personally, I tend to buy name brand clothes, toys, and electronics. Generally, the product is proven and actually better than the generic item. Although, I do not like paying extra because of excessive money went into advertising instead of product development.
