I just passed out...!
I write this looking for answers...
Like the title says.
I was into the first quarter of "The Forgotten", when I ate some popcorn and took a rather large gulp of Sprite. I got a pain in my chest, from what seemed to be the muscle in the esophogus struggling with what I'd given it. The pain thing has happened before, like my sips are too big. Then the screen gets blurry and before I know it my girlfriend is waking me up freeking out.
Years ago, she had epilepsy, but never witnessed a seizure from the second person point-of-view. The first thing she said was, "I think you just had a seizure".
The thing is, within seconds (I mean like not even two seconds) I was well enough to walk out of the auditorium.
Turns out carbonation expanding inside your esophagus is not good. I feel fine, good memory, gassy, and just a little tired (but that's most likely not related).
I was wondering if anyone else has even heard of this kind of thing happening. Any doctors in the house?
Thanks for taking the time,
B

wow man, that's crazy
I've had that happen before, it gave me shortness of breath, and tunnel vision but not to the extend of passing out...
good that you are okay, but you still may want to get checked out

I would have it checked out asap. I have had a problem somewhat like that and over the years it has gotten worse. On the flip side it sounds just like what happened to President Bush a two or three years ago when he passed out and hit the floor while eating. Try doing a google search for that.

I remember hearing about that in navy boot camp ....occasionally we were given like 5 min to eat due to the rule "can't eat until last guy makes it to the galley" after a 5 mile run. (just like full metal jacket)
The CC's (drill instructors) told us never to drink soda when in a rush. Just water and bug-juice (govt gatorade). Soda seemed to expand in esophogas.
Maybe they knew something we don't??? Only in boot do you get that kindof treatment.

It's possible that your esophagus expanded to the point of momentarily restricting the blood flow in your carotid arteries. If this happens it wouldn't take long for your brain to notice (are you familiar with a "sleeper hold")? Could also be related to an esophageal stricture or a more complicated problem. Have it checked out if it starts happening often. BTW: I'm not a doctor but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
