Default I need help with my workout

I am a PFC in the Army, I scored a 251 on my APFT with 61 push ups in two minutes, 63 sit ups in two minutes and a 13.50 2 mile run. Now that I am home because I am a reservest we don't have PT every day. I was wondering if someone could map out a workout that would either maintain my current condition or better it. My trouble spot mostly was my sit ups, I'd like to keep it to 3 days a week considering how busy I am with school but also not as boring as just doing a zillion pushups and sit ups. There must be some military personel on the forums that can help... calling all Rangers

Why not just repeat what you usually do? Or if you dont like pushups and situps, just run 2+ miles every day. It only takes you 15 minutes anyway

I've been working out for about 5 years, but recently stumbled across the homegrown muscle workout on Men's Health website. The first phase is a three-day a week workout that was pretty good. I would combine that with a little bit of running. Onyl thing is you'd have to add ab work, since it's a little weak on that one. But if you visit the Men's Health forums, there is a ton of info there, separated into different categories. I knew a lot going in, but have learned quite a bit from there. And I'd be positive there would be quite a few reservists on there, being an active bunch. Good luck.

I disagree with this. You local gym workers/owners don't neccessarily know what they are talking about with regards to fitness. I'd be weary of 80% of fitness instructors, too. Too easy to become one and spew worthless information. It kills me how many trainers I see that are in bad shape. I wouldn't seek a financial advisor who can't pay his rent or a dentist with no teeth.

As for "its not rocketscience...even idiots know how to get/keep in shape!"...
Excercise is good, anyone knows that, but not everyone knows the best way to approach working out. You have to arm yourself with knowledge, based on your specific goals if you want to be most effective.

Browse the Men's Health forums for a little while, and you'll be able pick apart the knowledgeable posts from the riff-raff pretty easily. I also hear lots of people refer to T-nation, which I think is more of a real heavy lifter site (maybe not, just my gut feel). Also, there are stickies at the top of one of the forum categories with links to various workouts. The people on that site feel (and I agree), that most of those workout plans were developed over time by experts and are bound to be better than anything you can come up with on your own, unless you're a true pro or really have unusual fitness goal. So I abandoned my self-created workout plan for one that looked good to me. I quickly realized that I'd made great fitness gains in spite of my workout, not because of it.
