Northern exposure = mostly shade, plants native to the Mid-Atlantic region. Willing to do maybe 5-7 large(ish) plants and or trees that require some maintance. Stone and mulch OK too.

I would try your local nursery ( they will offer suggestions, ideas on plantings) or try out one of the online landscape design plans. If you take the nursery suggestion, take pictures of the house and yard with you to give them an idea of the area involved.
