Default I need to sell an engagement ring...

Unfortunately I am in a position that I need to sell an engagement ring. Can anyone recommend a good place online to sell it? The obvious first choice would be ebay, but some research revealed that it probably wouldn't sell there. Anyone have any other ideas?

A local store is likely to take a huge commission on the sale. Obviously, I'd prefer to lose as little money as possible and since I'm not in desparate need for a quick sale, I figured I'd try myself first.

Sorry to hear this munckee. Selling a ring privately is a real pain in the azz. Where did you buy it? You might be able to get them to buy it back (for a loss, but still fast and easy) If you are trying to get the most money back, you could try an add in the local paper, but people are very nervous about buying a ring privately. Be sure to tell people you will be happy to go to a reputable jewelry store with them for an independant evaluation. This usually helps. You might wnat to do that yourself anyway. sometime you find out your ring isn't quite as good as the slaesman said. Better to know about problems up front.

Yeah, I realize it might be a pain. As I said though, I'm not in a huge rush and I'd like to get the money back if I can. It's also a certified stone, so there is something to "back it up" so to speak.

If it has a diamond, that's probably not the best way to raise some money. There's essentially zero second-hand market for those things, and DeBeers likes to keep it that way.

if you are in need of money.. then sell it...

if it's an unfortunate incident from a proposal.. i would reccomend you to take the diamond out.. and keep it till you found another beloved one. When you are ready again, get a new setting and use the same stone.

this will minimize your lost for sure
