I want to buy a digital camera...
I searched the archieves and it pretty much comes to what I have been planning to do but I want to do a last minute check with you guys.
The camera I am targeting right now is Olympus 460Z. Now there is one other model called 490Z and I have no idea about the differences since I am not familiar with the terminology.
I want something that I can take great pics and print them if I need to.
Now, do you think this is the camera that suits me the most. If so what do I need to buy in order to make it work from the first day on. (Connectors, hubs, memory cards.... etc)
Would you be able to advice me to look into another camera at the same price range. (less than $400)
Is there a good online source that I can purchase the camera cheaper than other places.
Thanks for the help.

I just bought the Canon digital elph S100. I pesonally love this camera and it is very user friendly. Lot's of features. I bought it online and got it for just over 400 bones. Best Buy has them for 499.00.
Check out cnet.com and do a search for the Canon S100. I got mine from a company called D buys. Good luck.

I just got the Sony DSC-S75 and I love it, but it's a little out of your price range. www.dpreview.com has great info on various digital cameras including some great, in-depth reviews and forums for the various camera manufacturers. It's definitely worth checking out.
For finding the best price, I would look at cnet, www.pricewatch.com, and www.fatwallet.com. They all have good price searching for both cameras and accessories. Good luck!

I have a Kodak DC4800 and LOVE it. It might be slightly out of your price range ($599 at Best Buy, minus $100 mail-in rebate), but it's a 3.1 megapixel camera with loads of features and accessories (including a killer lens kit with close-up, zoom, and wideangles lenses)... If you're looking for an easy point-and-click camera, this one may be a bit over the top, but I figured I'd mention so you can get an idea of what's available near your price ceiling.
If you end up getting a digital camera that takes CompactFlash memory cards (as mine does), I would highly recommend buying a separate CF reader for your PC, as you get more convenience and higher transfer speed compared to using the camera directly. (Don't know if this is the case with other technologies, like Sony's MemoryStick stuff, but it sure is true with my Kodak and all other CF cameras I've played with...)
Another must-have is a preview window so you can know right away whether the picture you took was garbage or not. (Not sure if all digital cameras come with one these days, but it's defitinitely worth having). I've even used mine for color matching when my wife and I have gone shopping for blinds, furniture, etc. (Camera has a "preview" mode that lets you flip through your pictures on the screen -- very handy).
Good luck with your purchase!

Thanks alot for the responses.
I found out that Olympus 460Z is 1.3 megapixel while 490Z is 2.1 megapixels and it has preview window. 490Z is still around $320 and it is what I am planning to get right now. There is still abit left until my price range so I am open to any suggestions.

You should also check out all the digital camera reviews on C|Net. Go to http://hardware.cnet.com, click on "Digital Cameras", then "Top picks for your price range", then "Under $400".

I feel dumb. These specifications do not make any sense to me. Most of these cameras carry almost the same specifications. I guess the users tell the difference, I am not even sure if I will regret whichever I choose but I want to purchase the best in my price range.
Here is my almost final list:
Olympus D 510 Z
Canon Powershot S100
