...just watching Dangerous Pursuits on TLC this afternoon...great show, love watching that kind of stuff for some sick and demented reason. But one thing strikes me about these chases that endanger countless people's lives on the streets (mostly in SoCal, it seems... ) is how absolutely enraged *I* would be if I were one of the cops that catches one of these perps after the chase is done. I would be assigned to desk duty or brought to court for assault or whatever after my first perp capture as I don't think I would be able to restrain myself from just going hogwild on the guy who put so many at risk like that.

So much adrenalin, so many perps...

How do cops NOT beat the living snot out of some of these "evil doers"? (great term, G W... )

If I were one of those cops, I'd destroy the guy...many kudos go to these men in blue who can show an amazing amount of restraint, I wouldn't be able to do it...that's for damn sure!

Moreover, I think you have forfeited your right to live if you endanger people on a scale like this and I think cops should be able to drive alongside of them and shot them square in the head. Unfortunately that turns the car into an unguided missile. Is that too harsh!?

This stuff really pisses me off, but I'm so compelled to watch...! Make it stop!!

Help me too!!! Cop chases are so addictive!!! As you see in the chases the cops never loose their cool cuz they're train to control themselve no matter what.
But you're right it's hard to handle all this adrenaline.

if I was a cop I would pull over and smack around the corvette owners who drive around 5-10 mph UNDER the speed limit. Owning their cars for the sole purpose of posing rather than what the car's intended use...

 

you know why cops dont beat on the people they are chasing? have you heard of Rodney King?

+ they will also end up in jail

 

Now cops wait until the cameras are shut off before going upside the perps' heads.

Has anyone seen footage of Russian cops on the beat (I think 60 Minutes had a segment)? Those guys are vicious. They didn't care that the camera was on as they beat the living snot out of suspects. In fact, the one cop was giving an interview between punches. It would have been funny if it wasn't so brutal.

 

that's why i always have a tape recorder in my car, which i turn on when i get pulled over by a cop.
works great and its just something handy when you need to show evidence in traffic court.

 

they don't show the tapes of the cops losing the chase on TV, bad ratings and it doesn't make the viewers afraid of being in cop chases.
