If you join the military voluntarily, aren't you expected to "kill"???
Some people will do anything to get admin sep'd from the military. I think it's sick that some join for the benefits and don't ever consider they may have to serve there country on the frontlines. CO status is not very common where I come from(former Marine). I think it's most common with services that promise this and that just to join. If you've ever noticed the Marine Corps commercials don't advertise 60 grand for college, they just want people who want to be Marines. If the army wants to avoid the black eyes given by these co's they need to be more careful who they let in. I remember signing multiple forms when I enlisted stating I was not a concientious objector.
Thats what alot of people do these days.. They join for the bennifits. Alot of it has to do with the recruiters too. The recruiters tell these people to join for the money and school.. Of course theyll say anything to get you in. I remember i heard all the same jive when i enlisted. Once you sign your name on that line.. You are property of the U.S Government. I did 8 in the Army as well. Last place i deployed too was Bosnia. And ive seen my share of soldiers doing anything to get out of the military. Ohh.. i do know Chaplains dont carry weapons. Thats why they have Chaplain assistants.

There are all kinds of people in this world, and all kinds of reasons for being a CO, but please remember there are some who didn't want to carry arms, but still wanted to serve their country in the military, and many of them died doing it. Give them their due.
