I'm back.
Puerto Vallarta was great. Stayed at the La Jolla de Mismaloya south of the main town, where they filmed the Night of the Iguana -- a wonderful hotel.. Lots of good food, drink, sightseeing, and new friends.
Caravaned with several vehicles 2 1/2 hours south to a tiny little town called Cruz de Loreto on ocean. Had to ford a stream with our jeep. Unfortunately, the eclipse was clouded out except for one incredible minute when the sun was completely eclipsed except for Bailey's Beads all the way around. Bailey's Beads are the last bit of the sun's light shining through the valleys and canyons on the surface of the moon. This hasn't happened for almost 20 years. Unfortunately, I had already given up and packed up my gear, so no pics. I'll get a print from somebody else and post it.
Driving back to the hotel on Mexican dirt roads in pitch black in the rain was totally insane.
