I'm here at the Rational Users Conference at the Convention center until this Friday.

1. If the Rockies are in town catch a game. . .
2. Drive to Boulder. . .

Enjoy the view of the Rocky Mountains. . . Unfortunately, (at least the times I went there) the City of Denver pretty much dies after work. . . Everyone heads to the burbs. . .

However, I think its a great place to visit

Denver had a lot ot offer after 6PM when I went out there in May. My one favorite place to go was called the Purple Martini....it's a very trendy martini bar. The people are beautiful and nice.

There's quite a bit to do out there, the only area of complaint was the lower downtown area. After work, the area just dies....but downtown, downtown it was pretty much happenin' until about 9PM and then everyone headed to Bonnie Brae ice cream shoppe.

The Rockies start a three game series with the Giants today. Wednesday's game is a day game, but tonight and tomorrow are 7:00 starts I think, 6:05 PST

Watch the balls get hit out of the stadium consitantly in that mile high stadium, Coors Field(a.k.a Little League Ball Park of America)

I was trying to find this great page that I found not long ago on the best places to go in Denver. It was oriented around sports (ESPN or SI) and had sports bars and fun stuff.

This is the best I came up with

CNN Travel Guide to Denver

A bit lame, I know.

Of course, by all means, avoid the movie, Things to do in Denver when You're Dead, but here's a guide to things to see and do: http://www.futurecast.com/gcg/denver.htm

Thanks for the responses.
Has anyone been to Central City/Black Hawk area for gambling? Open 24/7?

I'm not sure about the operating hours in Central City/Blackhawk, but I think it is 24/7. One thing for sure is that it is low stakes gaming. Bring your quarters.

If you are looking for some nightlife downtown, you are within walking distance of some decent clubs. Brenden's has live music seven nights a week. They do mostly blues. Redfish also has live music, but I'm not sure about which nights. If you have time, you should definitely stop by Wyncoop Brewery for a tasty handcrafted beer. Nallen's is a cool dive Irish bar. Fado's is a decent yuppie Irish pub. As luder mentioned, there is the Purple Martini for some high-priced drinking. There are also a few wine bars too. If you want to do sports bars, then head for Blake Street.

Give me an idea of what you are looking for and I can recommend some different places and with some directions to get there.

Nin009's recommendations sound like an alcoholic's tour. Sounds great!

When I was in Denver 2 years back there was a great bar that served honey beer (called a beesting or something like that) just over on writers square (on Larimer St) where the memorial to Jack Kerouac is. It was really funky sitting out there on a hot June evening listening to music and watching the street life stroll by.
