Default im going to central europe

hey all. heading to central europe in about a day. looking to see austria, hungary, and slovenia. flying into germany. anybody have any suggestions in those places to see? there for about 12 days. no schedule and i have a train pass so im not too worried about transportation. czech republic is largely out of the question due to some trade offs i made with my train pass. everything else...including italy is open. thanks!

^ Wow. It looks like a Russian wife selection lineup.

Have a great trip! Last time I was over there was too long ago so I don't have any suggestions of what to do or see. I've got a buddy who is in Berlin right now and he's having a ball. He should be leaving any time now to explore more of Europe.

There's a little inside joke where people we know chant "Mike Berlin! Mike Berlin!" kind of like the greeting that Norm on Cheers always got ("Norm!"). He called last weekend from Berlin, Germany and held the phone up in the air and had the whole bar chanting "MIKE BERLIN! MIKE BERLIN!" I nearly shed a tear. Chanting for Berlin, while in Berlin.

I've been to Hungary a few times. Its pretty cool...but I prefer the western side of Europe better. However..in Hungary go to the old roman bath houses. Also visit the Balaton. Its a few hours outside Budapest. Its the biggest lake in Europe and extremely clean and beautiful.

Picture taken in Budapest last summer.

In reply to the "And you're not" portion...

I *AM* going to Hungary, so

I leave Sept 21 and hope to see a decent amount of Budapest, along with traveling to Slovakia, Austria (Vienna mostly) and others.

You'll see Austria, so i'm assuming you'll hit Vienna (or if you're not, you should). The weather this time of year is beautiful and there's lots to see. Be sure to go to St. Stephen's Square, where you'll find the cathedral:

In that same sqare there are a ton of shops and cafes. Also, check out Salzburg if you can, it's very picturesque:
