I'm going to Vegas this weekend...
anybody else here into Mixed Martial Arts competition? (I know tapout is, as is obvious by his moniker
) my buddy and I will be there from Friday the 20th to Sunday the 22nd. not bringing the S though, we'll be flying. a couple of guys who train at the jiu-jitsu academy I used to train at will be competing. it should be a great show.

In 1994 I drove from New Jersey into New York City to watch the Tae Kwon Do World Championships at Madison Square Gardens. I think I would rather have been in the competition than having to drive in NYC.
Have fun!
Have fun!
so who did u train with that's fighting?
lol at the guy who watched the points tournament.
i am still amazed at how poor TKD competitions are. competitors hopping on one leg. oh well, not my sort of martial arts thats for sure.
anyone catch the olympic judo. some real hard grapplers there, that russian Vastula and Brazilan Canto were impressive. Pity Kosei Inoue didn't perform in this olympics.

magician--
SilverKnight-- I wish I was anywhere near good enough to even compete semi-pro. I have just enough skills to have an idea of how much work, sweat and pain these pros have to put in to get to their level. (p.s.-- your political banner
nothing personal of course
)
Aussie friends --
I used to train at the Cesar Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in Concord. he's got two *HIGHLY* skilled-- we're talking f*ckin amazing-- fighters who will be competing; Dave Terrell and Nick Diaz. I haven't trained at that academy in a while (due to repeated joint injuries-- BJJ is a pretty brutal sport/art/whatever, esp. in that academy). I know do Muay Thai/kickboxing at the George Tsutsui academy in Concord, who teaches a lot of Cesar's students their stand-up skills, such as UFC veteran Gil Castillo.
re: blacks2k Couture -v- Belfort, oh man that is a TOUGH call... I really think it'll go the distance... but Couture will be dominant throughout the fight, Grounding-n-Pounding.

Have fun in Vegas. I know like 20 guys going there for a bachelor's party. If you see a bunch of asians, that's them.
Pride is on tonight on PPV, but the fights happened already. Belfort is one of my favorite fighters. He's got the fist of fury. I heard Vandelai Silva is going to be there to watch the fight. Supposively, after the upcoming fight with Quentin Jackson, he wants to fight either Vitor or Randy. Vitor and Silva don't get along, even though they are both Brazilians.
I hope the UFC fans don't boo once the fight goes to the ground.
I don't think Tito Ortiz is overrated. Ortiz beat Ken Shamrock and Vandelai Silva, that's an achievement that most pro MMA fighters could only dream of.
Go Sakuraba!!!
